J. Warren, Saxophonica, Etc.

Originally from Montréal and residing in Maastricht, J. brings an honest expression to the bandstand, beats, and experimentalism.

The sound is deep and playful, in song, dance, and lucid improvisation. It starts from a 93-year-old silver saxophone, and goes wherever it takes to reach you.

Like a highwayman, saxophone at the ready and masked, Dr. J stormed into Zuidhorn with companions for a musical robbery.

However, no jewelery or banknotes were taken, but attention was stolen. It was very welcome, playful, but also musically beautiful […].

Richard Wagenar, The Next Gig

As a beloved character in many music scenes, a performance from J Warren brings together a roster of special artists from all over the world. The core collective of musicians, dancer, and performance artists have inspired any ages, many places, and different spaces.

From street to stage, this creative, occasionally costumed, DIY-driven music with many names has been performed on ancient bridges, artfully obscure hangouts, and in many different venues and festivals – notably, the Montréal International Jazz Festival, So What’s Next? festival in Eindhoven, Jazz te gast in Zuidhorn, and Jazz Out Fest Limburg.
