Here I had the pleasure of curating three days of street music under an old/new moniker, DR. LADY J’S CURIOUS CATS.
We played songs that don’t exist, songs that do exist, and we took requests from the audience – not for specific repertoire but for their favourite food, colour, weather, vibes…
It featured yours truly ( 3S-AMI-5A in drag pirate format) on the sax and direction, Emilie van der Waals as dancer, Tavo Jamarillo on trumpet, Selim Aydin on tuba and Ruben Sieben on drums. We had a looooot of fun being paid to be chaotically excellent while dressing up as ancient-future adventurers…

Opening set was with Emilie van der Waals dancing creepily around beatmasters Fred Doston, Ramehs.Es, and myself on a rare occurence: flute. ( you can hear the tape here)
Second set featured the usual lineup, plus the legend Gary Schwartz on guitar and Leah Bethel on trumpet.
not pictured: The 2019 edition at Café Joe (Freaky Xmas 2k19) where I read Mackenzie Bleho’s “Butch de noël” poem onstage accompanied by Gabi Tomé, burlesque comdédique by Darragh Kilkenny-Mondoux, and then a show where we picked song names out of one santa hat, and “styles” out of the other.
